Chapter CXXIX: Two heads are Better than One, but Four Legs are Better than Two ~Optional
Being the sporting chap that I am, I decided to leave the Agent alone since he looked about ready to pass out. Besides, I was getting a bit bored with the whole, flying over an angry crowd of lizards, so I moved to a different area of the same planet, deciding that if Havering was here, it might end up being a very fun place to be. So I found myself coming out in a very dark cave. Darkness isn't something that bothers you when you're dead, but I am mentioning it anyway.
It was dark and it seemed to be a cave, wait I said that already, well I floated around a bit, feeling like there was someone/something else around. I happened upon a gravestone, but it ended up being written in some weird language I'd never seen before, and the person who was buried there seemed to be completely at rest so I wasn't going to get a conversation from him/her. And even if they were around, if they spoke in the language that was on the grave, I wouldn't be able to understand them anyway. I was about ready to try another spot, when I noticed a lump laying beneath a slightly cracked stalag...um...shoot I can never remember...the one that's on the floor. I floated down and saw that it was one of those orange lizards. It seemed to be unconscious. The size of the lump on his head and the little trickle of blood seemed to show that he wasn't waking up any time soon. I decided to leave him be, and with only a fleeting thought of wondering if perhaps he could read what was on the grave, I moved to another place.
I appeared again on a wide-open plain. I was getting tired of ending up in places that didn't have any life in them, but then I spotted three figures. Two looked like human creatures and the third was some sort of blue dog. I floated over, invisible to them until I could figure out who they were. The female human and the dog looked familiar, though I couldn't put my finger on it. (And no not because I'm unsubstantial) The other human seemed to be very interested in looking at the underside of his umbrella.
I became visible and floated down in front of the dog. "Hi."
The dog stopped, looking confused. "Did you make that?" He asked the guy with the umbrella, who looked up.
"No. Hey wait. Could that be the evil being?" He picked up the umbrella and seemed to try to be doing something with it.
The female human though, was frowning, a lot. I was actually happy at this point that none of the three seemed to be scared of me. Not only that, I could understand them. I might actually get a decent conversation from them.
"No I am not evil. I am Optional. Who might you be?"
"I'm Gelid." The blue dog said.
"Stupid thing won't work." The male shook the umbrella again.
"I believe that would be because it's not raining." I said.
"There's nothing in the directions about it only working in the rain." He said. Suddenly flowers popped out of the end. "Oh sheesh. Well I'm Kyanosa Canopus."
"It is a pleasure to meet you KC."
The human looked a little confused, then seemed to realize. "Interesting."
"And who might you be?" I asked the female human.
"Do you work for Necronimus?" She demanded.
"Everyone seems to be thinking that." I replied floating over on my back. "And no. We've met of course, but I don't work for him."
She seemed to relax a little.
"Do you have a name?"
"Adrian." She said.
"Well at least you're more talkative then the agent guy. Though he did seem to be a little hurt at the time."
"Wait. Agent? Round guy? With a red eye?" She asked.
I nodded, debating whether to turn into a paper airplane or a kite.
"Where was he?"
"Oh so you know him." I decided on the kite, and attached the end of the string to KC's umbrella.
"Where was he?" Adrian repeated as I floated into the air.
"Oh somewhere. Though I believe he's moved by now."
Suddenly the ground shuttered violently. I only noticed because my string jerked strongly and when I looked down all but Gelid were on the ground. I always did believe that four legs did give one much better stability then two. I sometimes wondered how many legs I had when I was alive.
"By the gods, what was that?" KC said getting to his feet.
I floated back down. "I believe its call an earthquake." I said feeling a bit sad that this boy was slow.
"But what caused it?" He said getting to his feet.
"Well you see. When the continental plates move…"
"No, it wasn't a normal earthquake. Something's wrong." Adrian said.
"Well now this is getting fun." I said.
