Chapter CXXXIII: Untrusted Sanity ~Vector
Tripper walked across the plains, carrying Vector on his shoulder. He heard him moan, and tossed him to the ground.
"Get up! Your heavy!" Tripper yelled. Vector staggered to his feet.
"Where in the hell are we?" Vector said groggily as he stood squinting in the sun.
"We’re on some backwater planet that’s not on any star chart in some unknown galaxy that is quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Need a more exact location?" Tripper said sarcastically. "There’s a structure about 200 kilometers from here. Think you can run there?" Vector stretched, and popped his back.
"You really think I’m gonna trust you now? You want to kill me. That doesn’t really make for a trustworthy relationship." Vector said.
"Look," Tripper said, "We’re on some planet neither of us has ever been on before, and I want to get off of this rock as much as you do. What d’ya say we team up, like old times. I mean, come on. What you did to me is in the past. It can’t be changed. All I ask now is a simple apology." Vector looked at Tripper for a moment.
"Okay," he said. "I’m sorry for leaving you for dead. Now, you have a blaster I can use? I kinda blew mine up." Tripper pulled a second blaster out of the bag he had attached to his belt. Vector took it, and slid it into his holster.
"Okay, Trip. You think you can hang on?" Vector asked. Tripper put his arms around Vector’s waist, and the next instant, he felt as though his arms were going to be pulled off.
"Vec! How fast are you going?" Tripper yelled.
"I dunno." Vector replied. "Probably about six hundred kilometers per hour." Vector ran across the plains for several minutes, Tripper hanging on for dear life. Suddenly, Vector noticed something.
"What’s that?" Tripper asked. Vector couldn’t believe his eyes.
"That’s the Aurorium!" Vector shouted. "What the hell is it doing here?" He ran to the entranceway, and felt the wall. It was real. "Let’s go in." Vector said. He and Tripper walked in, and looked around.
"Are there people here?" Tripper said.
"Usually. They must be somewhere else." Vector said. "Let’s wait for someone."
Both of them walked further into the building, and found a room with a couple of chairs. They sat down and started talking as they waited for anyone to come in.
