Chapter CXLI: Genesis of Revelations ~Kyle

Darkness envelops us all eventually. It is the ultimate end, which none can escape. Why not meet the inevitable head on instead of letting it stalk us throughout life?

"NOOOOOOOOO!!!" Kyle's scream of terror echoed throughout the darkened halls of the house. The vision of his mother's mutilated body blurred through the tears in his eyes. He looked over at his father's fallen body, blood pouring from the multiple wounds he had received on his head. Then his attention was turned toward the assailant. The ceiling-tall demon made his way slowly towards him, the grin on his face showing his gleaming white fangs. His short, bright, neon blue hair ended at mid-neck. The rest of his body was covered in a cloak, though he could see his exposed cobalt-colored hands. But his eyes were the worst. Those cold, life-less blue eyes. They pierced Kyle's soul as he fixed his stare on them. He stood fixed to that spot, unmoved, as the cloaked figure made its way toward him. Kyle broke the stare and shook his head rapidly, as if to get his image from his mind. A voice entered his head. "Run, Kyle! Run to the lake!"

Kyle dashed under the demon's legs and out the door. He ran across the snow-covered ground in his bare feet and pajamas, slipping many times on the way. His feet began to collect snow and numb, but he could feel nothing except the burning fear and hatred. The demon's laugh filled his mind. He watched again and again as his mother was fried alive by the occult magic. She fell lifelessly to the ground in a heaped pile of flesh and bones, never to rise again. He touched the spot on his neck tenderly where he was burnt by a stray bolt of electricity.

He finally made it to the lake and stopped on the shore. He looked out across the frozen waters. He looked back to see the cloaked figure making its way across the field. Kyle ran out onto the ice without fear, his only fear being consumed by the demon. He closed his eyes, tears of fear, anger, and sadness streaming down his face. He couldn't see where he was going and ran full force into the demon's legs. He fell back onto his rear-end as the demon looked down at him pathetically. "Now now, my dear child, must you cry like that? It makes my job so much harder." He grinned as he reached down to grab the quivering body in his cold, bony hands. Lifting the boy up to his demonic face, he began his laughter again. It started out a chuckle and grew until it echoed throughout all of Winters.

Kyle's breath began to shorten. His blood raced furiously through his veins. His mind pulsed and throbbed with images of his mother's death, his father's maiming, and the demon's laughter. Kyle's eyes glazed over as he gasped for breath. His circulatory system was now in overload, and the speed of his blood flow was emitting a strange force. His lungs pumped faster and faster every second, and the flow of oxygen also began to create the same power. He clenched his teeth and fists as the demon's heartless laughter filled his mind. He looked up at the face once again and let out a yell.

The ice shuddered due to its magnitude. Every animal in the forests stopped what they were doing to find the source of the noise. Every house light was flipped on and the town stepped outside to investigate the echoing sound. The yell was so powerful that the demon stopped laughing, dropped the child, and took a step back. Kyle landed on his feet and began to shake with fury. The demon looked on in wonder. He had not forseen this type of power. Kyle's body began to pulse and quiver with a supressed power. Suddenly, a blue light flashed and he was illuminated by a what appeared to be blue flames. His eyes glowed with the same luminescence.

Without a word, Kyle plunged his hands straight into the thick sheet of ice that always covered Lake Nessit. The blue flames encircling his being traveled out from his hands through the ice, melting through it as they traveled. The circled around the dumbfounded demon until they met behind him. Kyle grasped the ice in his bare hands and lifted up. The ice shuddered and rumbled as the circle of ice was lifted on one end, the other end plunging into the frigid waters. The demon began sliding down the sheet of ice into the water until he dug into the ice with his claws. He climbed slowly up the sheet, trying to get to the top. Kyle pushed the sheet of ice forward with little effort, making it flip around. The demon quickly learned that he was on the underside of the ice, about to be plunged into the freezing lake waters, but it was too late. The sheet of ice fell down with a tremendous crash. The demon was thrown down into the icy waters and felt the coldness immediately. He burst up through the ice and into the air, where he hovered, his eyes glassy white with rage. "No one makes a fool out of Psuedo Havering! Especially a little boy like you!" He calmed down and grinned, his eyes returning to their normal blue. "No matter, though. I have done what I came here to do. Now my image will haunt you throughout your life. Remember this day, Kyle Andonuts, for we will meet again. And the outcome will not be the same as it is today." With that a dark portal opened up in the air behind him. He stepped into it and it closed on him. He was gone. The blue flames were extinguished and Kyle collapsed upon the ice, as the townspeople rushed out to attend to him.

Kyle awoke with a start. He looked around the area frantically. The fire burned steadily beside him, and Koi was curled up against him, blanketed by his jacket, and sleeping soundly. He relaxed, comforted simply by the sight of her. He brushed the wisps of silvery-white hair from her forehead, his fingers grazing her skin gently. Her mouth formed a smile without waking, and he smiled as well. He lay back down on the ground and looked up at the twinkling stars. Psuedo's voice continued to echo inside his head. We will meet again. And the outcome will not be the same as it is today. Kyle wrapped his arm around Koi's body and grinned. We'll see, Psuedo. We'll see...
