Chapter CLIII: Altered ~Artemis

Even as they walked through the forest, Artemis could feel what was happening to the very planet she walked on. Someone, or something was either trying to sap its energy, or just destroy it completely. Judging from the way her floating companion was reacting; Artemis guessed he felt it as well.
"So, what say you, O flying cape?" Artemis asked, no hint of jest apparent in her tone. Friaz turned to her, and glared at her through his non-existent eyes.
"For the last time, I am not a cape!" He exclaimed in frustration. "I may look like a cape, and float like a cape yes…but I am not a cape!" Fang continued walking beside Artemis, letting his amusement flow into her mind.
"Alright, alright…I don’t feel like arguing with you right now Friaz. Seriously though, I know you feel it. What say you?" She replied. Friaz floated in silence for a moment as if in thought.
"What are you…"
"Quiet!" Friaz hissed. Artemis and Fang both stopped in their tracks, and Friaz stopped a few feet ahead of them. He turned around, and gave Artemis a troubled look.
"You have bigger problems right now than what’s happening to this planet. Now, I don’t wish for you to panic…I know how dangerous a panicked goddess is…but I need you to focus. Ignore the conversation of the life around you, focus on the energy." Artemis gave him a skeptic look, but closed her eyes anyway. Her reaction was quicker than Friaz expected, when just but a moment later did her eyes snap open and look around warily.
"No…this…this cannot be…" Artemis whispered.
"What’s wrong Yatina?" Fang asked her.
"Can you not feel it Fang? It’s…him." She replied, somewhere between terror and disbelief. Fang sniffed the air, and stiffened in preparation to fight, defend, or both.
"But I’ve already gotten rid of him!" Artemis exclaimed. Then her mind traveled back a short time to when she had sat with the Agent in the Inn during her time of questions.

She hoped she didn’t hurt the poor guy when she tossed him out of his seat, but this was important. She needed answers, and now. Though, Artemis admitted to herself, the look she had caught from the Agent was quite amusing.
"What did you want again?" He asked, a slight edge to his voice. ‘Oh yes, I’ve surely ticked him off. Oh well.’ She thought, as she gazed at the creature impassively.
"Are you from Parallel Earth?" She asked. The Agent looked a bit perplexed to say the least, and also looked as if he wished to strangle her. She smiled slightly.
"Yes, I am. Now would you kindly move so that I may get back to my discussion?" He replied, calmly. Too calmly for her liking.
"Not yet, I still have a few more questions to ask." She said. The Agent shook his head slightly.
"Fine…what?" Artemis took a deep breath, trying to figure out what her first question would be. She decided to stick to what little Kamiko had told her.
"I do know that this is another dimension, and an entirely different planet. Why are we here though?" She asked. The Agent thought over, most likely trying to figure out how to lie to her.
"It’s all just one sadistic game. Some different dimensions, their inhabitance, and their past foes are all here." He replied.

The conversation lasted a good long while…there was really nothing useful that she could draw from him. That was the only…

"So he wasn’t lying after all…" Artemis thought out loud. Friaz nodded, as if he knew it all, and she was sick of it. Only Kamiko knew it all, and he was a god. This…this…cape, was no more of a god than a blade of grass. Wait, no…the blade of grass was still superior. Artemis glared at him.
"What are you nodding about? You weren’t even there…you just kinda floated in from no where and joined up with me but less than a day ago. You don’t even know anything about Lord Galician or Caliban, much less what their energy patterns are like! What are you, some kind of fortune teller or something?" She asked, in a small fit of fury. Friaz blinked, and got one of those, "Oops…" looks on his features. Or, was she just imagining all this?
"Err…" Friaz started. "No... not again, I can't have done it again..." He muttered as he looked at Artemis.
"What?"
"I just altered the future."
