Chapter CLXVI: Now I've Seen Everything ~Artemis/Friaz
Artemis woke up in the middle of the night, by the location of the moon, her best guess was it was around three hours after the nights high point. She sat up, looking around her. Fang was curled up to her right, his head right next to her as always. Ready to protect her at a moment's notice. She smiled slightly, and kept looking around. There was really nothing out of the ordinary. A sleeping cape, and a rather large four-legged creature pacing back and forth. She layed back down and closed her eyes, waiting to once again fall asleep.
Wait a second...
Artemis jumped up to her feet in a flash, grabing her sword and crouching slightly in a defencive position.
"Hi!" It nearly shouted outloud. Artemis raised an eyebrow slightly, and put her sword away, sensing no immediate threat from a large thing that just jolted Fang and Friaz awake. Well, it jolted Fang awake naturaly...Friaz just needed a *small* nudge from Artemis' foot.
"Mmph! Whaaa....?" He mumbled, still half-asleep. Artemis rolled her eyes and pointed at the still hidden large creature.
"Might you know what that is?" She asked. Don't ask how she knew the creature was somehow known to the flying cape. As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. Or, in this case...capes. Friaz blinked his eyes into focus, and made the most human-like sigh Artemis had ever heard from him.
"You don't know what a dragon is?" He said.
"Is it just me, or did I hear annoyance in his voice? Fang asked Artemis. She shrugged. "Can I bite him? Pleeasse??" They both laughed, and Friaz gave her a skeptical look.
"You know...a dragon..." She mumured, mostly to herself.
"Hi!" The creature called out again. She looked up.
"Umm...hello?" She replied.
"I'm Icewing!" He called cheerily, as if that explained everything. Friaz glanced over at him, then turned back to Artemis.
"He's my familiar. Wherever I go, there he is. He's a good companion, and he can help us a great deal." Icewing beamed.
"Yep! that's me!" The dragon enthusiastically said.
"Well meet Icewing, I am Artemis Yatina Evangelina. You are welcome to call me Artemis. This," She said, guesturing to her wolf companion. "Is Fang, my familiar. He's helpful, that's all you need to know."
"Hi!" Icewing repeated himself to Fang. Fang nodded his head in greeting.
"Good..." Artemis muttered as she sat back down. "Now that I know the flying cape has a companion, who's more intelligant then he is, I feel better. And since all the introductions and formalities are over with, I'm going back to sleep." She said, laying on her back and closing her eyes.
"I like that plan..." Fang said, settling down next to her.
"Good idea...me too." Friaz replied. Artemis' eyes snapped open.
"Wait a second...you were...sleeping...?" She asked, a very small amount of fear in her tone.
"Umm..." Friaz trailed off.
"Oh, he's mortal now. He's gotta act like a real human." Icewing chimed in.
"Oh...isn't that just peachy...I'm too tired to be surprised. We'll talk more after I sleep. G'night." She told them, closing her eyes one final time.
Now I've seen everything...
