Chapter CCV: A New Friend Emerges ~Sheko

A loud clash of metal rang through the coliseum. The crowd roared with cheers and laughter. Sheko spun back and with a furious whiplash of his claw he sent the sword flying out of the mans hand. The man had an axe in his left hand and swung at Sheko, barely missing his arm the werewolf leaped to the side and snarled at the warrior. The warrior delivered a hard blow with his fist greeting Sheko’s snout. He jumped back with a whimper and rubbed his bruised nose.

With anger in his guys, Sheko slashed at the warrior’s armor with great speed and leapt back. As the warrior looked down at his armor he grinned, for there seemed to be no signs of puncture. All of a sudden though his face went pale, obviously the pain finally came to him, through the adrenaline rush. He looked back down at his chest plate and saw 3 red streaks now dripping with blood. The wound started to bleed worse and the man leaned over holding his chest. The crowd saw this and began a chant, "Finish him, finish him!" Of course there was no death allowed in this tournament, that’s what they always chanted.

Sheko took a stance of attack and waited a few moments. The warrior righted himself back up and stared at Sheko, "Your…merely a child…" With a burst of energy Sheko lunged at the warrior with his foot in front of him. There was a loud smack and Sheko was standing above the warriors body, now unconscious. There were 4 claw marks across his face.

The crowd roared with delight and Sheko lifted his arms in triumph. The werewolf hunched over and he emitted a white light. Once the light faded he was now a boy once again. He stood up right, to a height of about 5,4, which was small compared to his 6,3 werewolf form. He had a light blue hair that stuck up in large spikes at the front. He wore baggy black pants and a white long sleeved shirt that has black buttons down the middle. He wore large gray shoes that are very worn.

Sheko faced the crowd smiling at his accomplishment. A man wearing much armor, a knight, came out from a high balcony. "Sheko, you have shown great skill in this tournament. The fact that older warriors and knights underestimated you of your age, let alone the fact of you being a geohound, came to your advantage. You have but one challenge left, the final round. He will not be easy, but I hope neither will you. Please, go eat at the feast until we arrange the new challenge." The knight turned around but was stopped by two kids jumping at his sides, "Oh and my kids say they will be cheering for you!" Sheko gave off a chuckle and waved at the two children. They both jumped with excitement and waved back.

Sheko headed towards the table of food outside the coliseum. There was plenty of food, he even saw some old opponents, healing well and eating their fill. Sheko walked towards a big roast of turkey that has yet to be touched. He was about to grab the leg but was stopped by someone tugging on his shirt. Sheko looked down at a small boy. He knelt down to greet his face, "Hey, I remember you. Aren’t you one of Sir Diog’s kids?"
The child nodded in agreement. "Yes I am! You fight well werewolf!"
"Heh, you can call me Sheko."
"Ok, Sheko. Whats it like being a werewolf?" The child asked with an innocent smile.
"Well, whats it like not being one?" Sheko asked with a large smile.
The boy laughed and was about to say something but was interrupted by a voice.

Sir Diog stepped forward, "Sheko, it is time for the final round."
Sheko stood up and faced Sir Diog, "Already? It hasn’t even been 5 minutes?"
"Yes, but we must hurry this, our scout from Zolott has just returned, mortally wounded." Sir Diog said with a grimace.
"So, what did he say?" Sheko asked with Concern
"He said everyday his forces grow stronger, this ‘Havering’."
"Ok, lets hurry this then." Sheko nodded and ran towards the entrance to the coliseum.

The introduction from Sir Diog in the balcony was short. The gates in front of Sheko opened and he walked into the arena. Across the dirt was a very large man, some could call him a giant. He wore a helmet that seemed to be made of gold and a plate across his face with only one eye hole. "That’s odd." Sheko thought to himself. The large man stepped in with a huge mace and started swinging it. Sheko ran towards him and in a burst of light he was a werewolf dashing at great speed. The giant swung at Sheko but he simply leaped over the spiked ball. Sheko stopped at his feet. His legs alone were the size of him. The giant swung again and Sheko jumped to the side to avoid the chain.

"You’re too slow!" Sheko yelled up. He ran up behind and lashed out his claws at the back of his legs. The giant yelped and started stomping the ground. Sheko scampered from side to side to avoid his feet. One of his hands came down and knocked Sheko back into a wall. The crowd gave a booing and threw rotten fruit at the giant but he wasn’t phased. Sheko looked up from the wall in pain. "He’s got a killer punch."

The giant ran towards Sheko, shaking the ground. The werewolf leaped up and sprinted towards the walking earthquake. He ran straight through his legs and stopped about 20 feet behind him. Sheko turned around and a green shimmering light surrounded Sheko, almost like sparkling dust. "Aero Rise!" Sheko yelled at the giant in a half snarl. A green wind came down from the sky and headed straight for the confused giant. Once the wind reached him it spread and with a great thrust shot up, sending the giant tumbling through the sky.

At about 70 feet in the air he stopped and down he came, crashing into the ground. Dust filled the arena along with silence. Sheko walked through the dust, batting it away. The dust cleared and in front of him layed the giant groaning. "I think I broke my arm!" The giant began to wimper and he pushed his helmet off. To Shekos surprise he had only one eye!

"You’re a Cyclops?!" Sheko barked in amazement.
"Yeah? So?!" The Cyclops roared at Sheko.
Sir Diog ran into the arena, "Sheko, we cant wait any longer. Follow me and I will lead you to the portal."

After walking through a large castle and many steps we reached a room. Sir Diog unlocked it and walked in. Sheko followed then stopped and gazed at the neon lights shooting around the room. He stared into a deep puddle of colors that was floating in midair. Every once and a while it was go completely black then light up again.

"This, is the portal to Zolott." Sir Diog stated. "Sheko, you have proven yourself strong enough to travel to this world and accompany the many others that are fighting this great evil. You must find them and aid them. We will not be sending any more, we cannot risk the lives of so many people. Sheko, you have already received great honor and if you come back alive with the evil defeated, you will be known as a hero for all time."
"Whoa, so much responsibility, but I will try my best." Sheko glared at the portal.
"Here, take this," Sir Diog handed him a green stone, "we will be sealing the portal and with that stone you can get back. I wish you luck!" Sir Diog bowed to Sheko.
"Thank you Sir Diog!" Sheko said.

Sheko faced the portal and made a few steps towards it. He examined it for a while then a determined look came over his face. He stepped back and leapt into the portal.
