Chapter CCXI: "Sonic Boom and Cold Steel" ~Vector
Vector walked through the woods, grumbling. He had seen Lich dive into the stream, but lost him there.
"Good thing I didn’t go into the business of professional tracker." Vector said, annoyed. Lich seemed to have a worse habit of disappearing than he did. Vector stopped in his tracks, and looked around. "I got a bad feeling that something’s goin’ down." Vector said. He tore off through the woods. When he exited the trees, he accelerated through a field. Suddenly, he felt massive resistance against his forward movement, and he noticed the air in front of him heating up. He pressed forwards with a burst of speed, and the invisible barrier shattered, and the world went silent, as he broke the speed of sound. He poured on the speed, the scenery around him becoming nothing more than a blur. His legs assumed the shape of a sideways figure-eight as he went into his Super Figure-Eight run, accelerating him more. He quickly closed on a battlefield, but ran through it. A Hydralisk and several Zerglings noticed this blue blur speeding past, and attempted to give chase, only to be ripped apart seconds later by Vector’s massive shockwave. Vector soon found himself in the Protoss City. He dug his heels into the ground, and skidded to a stop. His hair was blasted into his face by the sonic boom that followed him, and quickly washed over his head. He looked around, and noticed a large, seemingly bio-engineered ship, and a Protoss shuttle on a collision course. He looked around again, and chuckled. Several Protoss warriors were getting up, having been knocked down by the sudden wave of compressed air that was his sonic boom.
"Hey what’s up?" Vector asked. The Protoss commenced to give him their story of the battle.
Havering sat in his lair, looking begrudgingly at a screen, staring into the face that was on it.
"So what is this "gift" you wish to give me?" Havering said.
"It is a robot I have spent several months building. It is a robotic duplicate of Vector." The man on the screen said. Havering pushed a button, and a glowing figure appeared next to a piece of equipment on the far wall. The figure stopped glowing, and Havering inspected it. It was a mechanical yoshi, painted a brilliant blue. It had no energy weapons to be seen, only sharp, needle-like claws for fingers. It had a lanky look to it, and it was rather short. A hole that held a turbine accented its front, the hole located where its stomach would be if it were a living thing. Havering stood back from his machine and laughed.
"A mechanical lizard? Surely even a human could do better than this!" Havering said to himself, out loud. The robot whirred to life, and opened its mechanical eyelids. Circular red eyes gazed out at Havering, glowing like embers on a black background.
"I am Mecha Vector, special prototype 00. What is your bidding, master?" the robot said in a well-synthesized voice. Havering looked on this new machine with doubt.
"I want to see what you can do." Havering said.
Vector walked into the nexus, and noticed everyone standing in the middle of a room.
"Hey!" Vector said. "I’m back from my run!"
"That was a long run." Markior joked.
