Chapter CCXXIX: Villain Versus Villain ~Zephirus
Dadala looked up at the huge black warship in the sky in awe. He had already witnessed the ship vaporize 2 towns from his lofty viewpoint on the cliff side, and had seen a vehicle fly up toward it earlier. He had thought them crazy for challenging the massive ship, but now was beginning to think that they may very well save his life. Unbeknownst to him, his life was in danger, for another had been brought along in Astra's arrival, one by the name of Lord Sphinx. Sphinx grinned as he silently sneaked up on his prey. Sphinx himself was a lion demi-human with great-feathered wings upon his back and the crown of a Pharaoh atop his head. He was a warlord of the Anuban race, and had earlier attacked the arctic kingdom of Suahar teamed with 2 other warlords, Optus and Riptor. Both were killed in a battle with Astra, and Sphinx had run to a desolate area of Yoshin to rethink his strategy and find new allies. His attack had been drawing near, and the interruption presented by the portal that had appeared and sucked him in was quite a setback on his plans. *This clod will be taken down easily enough,* Sphinx thought to himself, extending his claws for the pounce.
Lord Sphinx pounced, and caught Dadala by his cape, flinging him across the ground. Startled, Dadala grabbed for his sword, unsheathing it. Sphinx leaped into the air and descended with the sun to his back. Dadala blindly put up his sword in a block, meeting Sphinx's claws. He kicked him off, and Sphinx hit the ground hard, dazed. He got to his feet, re-oriented himself, and flattened a palm to Dadala, firing a black energy beam. Dadala whipped out his caster pistol and fired a shot right back, meeting the beam with equal force and eventually dispelling it, sending the powerful blast screaming toward Sphinx. Sphinx's eyes widened and the blast struck, consuming him in smoke. Dadala chuckled, and relaxed out of his battle stance. "Never had a chance," he muttered, putting away his sword. Then, 2 red eyes glowed within the smoke, and Sphinx leaped from the smoke, tackling Dadala and sinking his claws into Dadala's chest. Dadala screamed in pain, being cut short as Sphinx stomped down on his stomach hard. Dadala gasped for air, and Sphinx rose, a cruel smile on his face. He then remarked, "Never let your guard down...it's a deadly mistake," and blasted Dadala's brains across the ground with an energy beam, removing his foot from Dadala's stomach, tearing it open with a claw. "A little more help for the crows." He cracked a cold smile, and turned around. He guffawed at the massive warship, remarking cockily "I'll do the same to you as I did to this poor bastard!" He then crouched down and ripped an arm from Dadala's corpse, beginning to gnaw on it. "Hmm, not bad," he muttered with a full mouth. "Now, how do I go about getting off this pitiful excuse for a planet...and who is this guy I just killed, anyway?" He looked at the corpse and shrugged. "Not like I'm gonna find out now anyway." He continued to eat Dadala's arm and sit in contemplation, paying little attention to the ship in the background.
"Ugggh..." Zephirus sat in the middle of the smoking crater, missing one arm and both legs, bleeding heavily. Gundoh lay not far off, unmoving and silent. Whatever the creature may have been, it had self-destructed in a mostly-successful attempt to wipe out its opponent. Zephirus felt his life slowly slipping away, and found it quite a waste to die in such a twisted world. "Why me..." He spoke only to himself, which he had a habit of doing in times like these, sometimes to speed up the death he expected to come by wasting energy, sometimes just for his own comfort. "Why do I gotta die on this f****d-up rock? Damn it..." His eyes looked weakly into the sky above, looking at the craft he had fought with the creature on earlier. He didn't bother to waste his energy waving at it, he knew it would never come down to pick him up. He also noticed a slight distortion in the air above him, but shrugged it off as his imagination. He then blinked, eyes opening fully. The ship was flying down to pick him up. The ship flew low, and two small robots were deployed. The robots suspended him between two energy beams, and flew back up to the ship, entering and taking him to an infirmary of sorts. He was placed inside some sort of alien tank, and his eyes closed, only getting a glance of the monstrous robots lining the wall opposite him...
